A Thousand Joys

Thousand Joys

“A Thousand Joys” (2014) was selected for the Australasian Quilt Convention Challenge 2014.

The subject of the Challenge was “TEN”, to celebrate ten years of AQC. I used ten sinuous vertical columns of colour, each divided into ten sections, which were subdivided again into ten, to create a surface of a thousand dazzling, pieced colours. When a quilter opens (her) fabric-cupboard, a thousand colours spill out, inviting (her) to play.

Cottons, silks, brocades, metallics, tulle and felt were free-hand cut, machine-pieced, hand-quilted and embroidered with beads, sequins and buttons.
